Firefighters are working to contain a fire in southern Lea County, New Mexico. The fire is located near Frying Pan Road and Anthony Road. A safety perimeter has been established, with people advised to stay at least 2 miles away.
The public is being asked to avoid the area due to a smoke plume. Emergency officials are keeping a close eye on the situation and will adjust the perimeter as needed.
